Murphy Bros. differentiators

Six Things That Makes Us Different & Better

    1. Multi-phase design process: We have perfected the “walk-then-run” approach to building a solid foundation of scope and outcomes in a specific logical order before finalizing a detailed budget for review and agreement. This beats the “guess & go” approach every time.
Homeowner Benefit: Provides exceptional clarity of direction and confidence in making key decisions while eliminating unwelcome surprises.

2. A true design/build company: We build what we design with our homeowner clients. According to studies, this is the most efficient, low-risk. and cost-effective way to build new or remodel is to use an integrated design/build method.
Homeowner Benefit:  Provides better risk mitigation, cost control, schedule certainty.

3. Deep & broad in-house talent: Unlike smaller remodeling companies, we are staffed with nearly 60 professionals, spanning the entire roster of skills and expertise.  That means we have our own full-time carpenters, project managers, draftsmen, designers, consultants and general laborers who are held accountable to defined standards.
Homeowner Benefit: Predictable craftsmanship quality, more responsive and flexible to accommodate changes in design or build-out.

4. Hand-picked trade partners: While our full-time staff perform the majority of our construction efforts, we have developed a stable of specialists to perform those highly skilled duties, such as electricians and plumbers, all overseen by our full-time project managers and lead carpenters.
Homeowner Benefit: Professional on-site conduct and predictable quality craftsmanship backed by an industry-standard warranty.

5. An EOS-Driven Advantage: We’ve successfully integrated the Entrepreneurial Operating System as the foundation of our business. Why? We believe the cultural and financial health of a business is the best predictor of project success and relationship longevity. And EOS is the frame and engine that powers this success.  The metaphorical pistons that power that engine are the four values unique to Murphy Bros.: Uncommon Integrity, Get it done with great care, Glad to see ‘ya!, and Take ownership.
Homeowner Benefit: Stable and lasting relationship, based on the highest value standards with a capable construction company that will be available decades from now to cover warranties as well as future work that homeowners may want or need to do should disaster strike.  We’re your “remodeler for life”.

6. A better life not just different house mission: Anyone can make a change to a space, be it a new color, a new appliance, a new window, but it takes a different approach entirely to remodeling to view the mission as one of improving your life, not merely your home.
Homeowner Benefit: We ask better question. True collaborators, whose number one interest is in looking out for your life improvement in everything we design and build for you.

What's the Best Way to Engage With Us?

Unlike so many remodelers these days, we prefer to speak with homeowners who have questions or want to meet by having a meaningful phone conversation. Homeowners are consistently surprised to learn that we have a dedicated person who answers the phone. So, call us on our main number at 763-780-3262 and a knowledgeable human being will answer—not an AI bot. Not voicemail—well, not unless all our phone lines are already busy with homeowners trying to reach us or after hours.

If you don’t have time for a phone call, we get it.  Filling out one of our contact forms also works. We look at them during regular business hours (7:00 am to 5:00 pm) and respond as soon as possible or at your direction of time and date.

Universal design and aging in place are two certifications highly prized in remodeling

Top 5 Questions Asked of Murphy Bros.

1. Do you cover the whole Metro? Yes. Most of our work is in the 7-country metro area, Anoka, Hennepin, Wright, Ramsey, Scott, Washington, Carver, but we also work in many western Wisconsin cities.  See our footer for highlighted communities and links.

2. What are your reputation and reviews like? While we have won our fair share of industry awards for design acumen and construction quality, we are most proud of our GuildQuality satisfaction rating, which in 2025 is 96%. That score is driven by homeowner surveys, based on 10 different key aspects of every remodel—from budgeting to communication and quality workmanship. We are also most proud of winning two Torch Awards for Ethics in Business from the BBB. We cherish every review.

3. Do you offer basic or specialty remodels? As a full-service design/build remodeler, we treat every project like a prototype—One-of-a-kind.  Which is like saying we specialize in everything. So, to be more specific, yes, we do full kitchen replacements, reconfigurations, and expansions.  We can take the walls down or put them up. We also do ½, ¾, and master bath suites, Jacuzzi tub removal, and zero clearance walk-in showers.  Full or partial basement remodels are very popular with us, but the reasons vary from entertainment to yoga and gyms to golf simulators and sports courts.  Minnesotans love their outdoors, so we find ourselves being asked to do everything from full deck replacement to three and four-season porch additions. As people age and expect to stay in their homes longer, more and more are investing in whole-house remodels driven by universal design principles.

4. What other services do you offer? We have a full-service painting and pre-finishing division and a Home Repair Services division for quick, smaller “non-design” oriented projects.  We also have insurance specialists who can work with you on home restoration projects, including those disasters that offer opportunities for you to do the home improvements you’ve always desired.

5. What can I expect in terms of cost and next steps? We prefer to start by talking with you, not at you. Once initial contact with us is made, we assign your remodel inquiry to one of our design/build consultants.  They serve as our investigators who contact you within 48 hours to visit your home for what we call a “discovery” meeting. There is no fee for this meeting.

a. That’s where we discover what is causing you pain. Kitchen too cramped? Not enough storage? Ugly dated cabinets, poor lighting?  That usually takes about 90 minutes because we are very thorough. We will want a tour of your home and the space in question. We have lots of questions and expect that you will have many of your own as we both try to understand the general scope of the project.

b. One of those questions will inevitably be about costs, even if it doesn’t come out directly. Everyone wants to know if they are wasting time and effort on something they can’t afford. That goes for both of us.  Unfortunately, what you can afford is dependent on knowing what you’re trying to accomplish with the remodel. Of course, we can give you some historical idea of what other projects like yours had for budgets, but that’s just a starting point. Your project could cost more or less. The question you must ask yourself is does that ballpark budget range we mentioned match your investment capacity?

c. If the answer is yes or even maybe, then the next step is to put us to work creating what we call a phase 1 conceptual design, developing the extent of your project scope. There is a small fee for that work, and it may take several weeks.  Once the scope is nailed down, we can fine-tune the costs and develop a phase two budget with 3-D color concepts and plans. Once every item is approved and the building agreement is signed, we can schedule your project and begin building.  There will be many internal milestone meetings along the way to keep everything humming along.  Every step will be online for you to see, from the schedule to costs.
