An opportunity to give back to the community through a gift of remodeling expertise, labor and materials.
Why is construction often referred to as the “noble industry”? It is because we deal with the most basic of needs—shelter. Those who live and work in this vocation tend to have a special empathy for those in need of the security that a decent roof over your head supplies.
Participating in KTIS christmas blessing
It is in our nature to help
We know that first-hand when our fellow remodelers and suppliers came to our rescue a handful of years ago when our own office building burned to the ground.
So, when we were contacted by a popular local radio station about a Twin Cities family with a shelter issue compounded by their child’s life-threatening medical condition, we felt we had to respond because we were uniquely positioned to do so. Christmas Blessing is the program created by KTIS to be God’s literal hands in the community to help those in uniquely desperate need.
It turns out this split-level home had a lower-level water intrusion issue that caused a subsequent mold issue. As you may know, mold can be a serious threat to healthy people, let alone small children facing even larger medical issues. While the underlying problem was fixed by generous trade partners, it was the putting it back part that required more expertise, time and money than was expected.
Murphy Bros. was contacted to see if we could finish the project without adding any further cost to the restoration effort. And, after several weeks of work, we did exactly that. Director of Remodeling Production Drew Johnston stepped in to manage the work and Home Remodeling Specialist Tim O’Neill did the on-site work and communicated directly with the family
“We have these values. These pesky ideals we aim at every single day, which defines how we operate,” explains President Ben Murphy. I’m not sure which of the four this opportunity exemplifies, maybe all of them, but regardless, this is what our industry does. It steps up when there is a clear and vital need that only our expertise can address quickly and decisively.”
Owner and CEO John Murphy added, “I know personally, what it’s like to have your whole world come down around you. When you are facing multiple challenges and threats, you need someone to offer help so you can focus on the things that are far more urgent. I think partnering in this program from KTIS is just that. Of course, Murphy Bros. is limited as to the number of such opportunities we can address, we do what we can, when we can. That’s our nature,” said Murphy.
