Tuck Under Porch with a View in Maple Grove

Open air living with protection from the elements

Project Summary

What if you want the open-air freedom of a deck, with elevated visibility, and convenient access to the ground floor, but also want protection from the elements? The solution is a tuck under 3-season porch with a 2nd story low-maintenance Azek decking, with LED illuminated powder coated aluminum bronze railings. It's another perfect application of the Eze-Breeze® panelized membrane enclosure system that has the look of a 4-season with the protection of a 3-season porch, but for far less than a 3 or 4-season price tag. We added a unique accent wall of barn wood to anchor the room and tie in the rustic surroundings and the custom concrete floor.

Existing conditions of the homeowner's under deck porch: dark, cold, poorly illuminated, often used to store decking furniture during spring, fall and winter months instead entertaining family and friends. After demo a new foundation needed to be set before building the new structure.

Eze-Breeze system retains solar heat gain for late fall and early spring entertaining
Poured concrete floor with aftermarket finish provided by the homeowner, barn wood accent wall & trim, tongue & groove ceiling
Azek® decking, aluminum powder coated railings have built-in LEDs for night illumination
The deck drainage system is designed to channel water into a collection gutter allowing for the application of a finished ceiling with electrical
The home backs up to a nature preserve where enjoying the outdoors is a primary activity
