Project Summary
When these retired homeowners decided to downsize, being closer to family was an important factor, in selecting the last home they would purchase. They also wanted to optimize their space for hosting. Unfortunately, the original bathrooms on both levels of the home they chose were unsuitable for long-term use. Changes had to be made.
So, the main floor bathroom got a complete overhaul! Keeping the same craftsman's style as the rest of the home, these homeowners sought to keep the classic design but with a fun twist on color and pattern within their tile selections.
What used to be a small working bathroom is now wider, allowing for a separate large walk-in shower that wasn’t a part of the original footprint, a larger vanity and linen closet, and a deeper soaking tub. When making the bathroom larger, they had to remove some space from one of the extra bedrooms. Instead of making one small room, it was decided to make one large primary bedroom with an additional adjacent space that offered double closets (and potential laundry hook-up in the future) and a separate office and seating area.

This new floor plan design allowed extra storage and better functionality in both spaces! As for the basement bathroom, this space got an upgrade but with a budget in mind. Timeless fixtures were selected to allow for mix-and-match decor over the years, and a shiplap Onyx shower surrounded with a curb-less entry was chosen for cost savings but also easy to clean with zero grout lines.
