Minnetonka workout room basement remodel

Project Summary

This fitness-oriented family loves to work out and chase their personal best goals.   So, when they moved into this home and the 6-months of winter Minnesota delivers every year, they really needed a year-round solution.  The mom works from home and is an avid marathoner with small children so she really needed something easily accessible and highly functional.  But she also wanted to enjoy her surroundings and be inspired during her workouts.

As you can see in the "Before" picture below, what they had to work with was anything but inspiring.  So, we went to work designing a custom workout room to suit her equipment needs and aesthetics.

How'd we do?  Knocked it out of the park as they say.

BEFORE—The basement is bare, uninviting, and uninspiring.  Ok, it's down right depressing!

After Workout Room

AFTER—LVP flooring, SPC collection, Half Dome.  The walls are a matte finish in Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray; Marvin Essentials awning window provides exterior ventilation. Note the faux ceiling beam covers up the steel beam spanning the room.
AFTER—Beam wrap is red oak.
AFTER—Shaker door style, full overlay, finished in Vermont Slate BH-115; the storage bench is Red Oak finished to match ceiling beam wrap.  Note the marathon medals on the bench.
