Ben Murphy
"Having grown up in the industry and through remodeling a couple of my own homes, I know the importance of good design and efficient production. I believe in finding something you can be passionate about and helping others along the way. People want to know they are valued and feel their contribution is meaningful. When that happens, everything works. Happy employees, happy customers."

Summary of Experience
Ben Murphy, oldest son of owner John Murphy, joined the company as its first operations director in November 2020, responsible for managing PMs, subcontractors, and the accounting and finance functions at the company. This move is part of a larger, multi-year succession plan, that is in development, involving John and Sherry Murphy, their three kids and son-in-law Jonah. It comes at a time of new beginnings for the company with the rebuilding of their Blaine offices which was destroyed by fire in May of 2019.
In July of 2023, he continued the succession plan and became President of Murphy Bros. responsible for the day-to-day workings of the company.
Ben's experience over the last 15 years has led him to a variety of positions in well-known companies, including Target and most recently as the head of operations at Shaw Stewart Lumber. After graduating from Bethel College with a business accounting degree he became certified as a CPA doing accounting, tax, and consulting work for small construction companies. He then spent three years in the finance department at Target Corporation and then was offered a position at Shaw/Stewart Lumber Co., first as their Chief Financial Officer and later as their Operations Manager.
While at Target and Shaw Stewart, Ben started and completed his MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. In addition to that education milestone, Ben has also gained a great deal of practical experience in developing and maintaining a healthy company culture, which is of great importance to Murphy Bros. continued success.
