When Debbie and Bill were looking to update their 23 year old oak kitchen in Lino Lakes, they began working with Murphy Bros. Design/Remodel Consultant, Cherie Poissant. Together they explored designs to open the Kitchen to existing formal Dining Room vs. remodel it within the existing space. Ultimately, the close proximity of a ½ bath helped them decide to stay within the existing space.

Before Kitchen Transformation
The kitchen layout was changed, eliminating an unused desk, to make room for a new counter-depth refrigerator. The new 36” Wolf cooktop with a 30” wall oven beneath has flanking, hidden, spice pullout posts on either side. The former microwave was eliminated and a new ceiling soffit, positioned at the vaulted peak, was sized to receive the new custom wood hood. The island was enlarged for deep drawers, with details like furniture feet and a recessed toe-kick. The former angled oak cabinet transitioned to a new cherry furniture style built-in with an arched crown feature and appliqué. Countertops include natural granite at the perimeter with a newly released Cambria color at the island, supported by hand-carved cherry corbels.
Murphy Bros. lead carpenters showcased their talents installing cabinetry and a 3 part trim on the existing tile floor that was out of level by 1-1/2”. Murphy Bros. finishing department created a multi-step process to match an existing furniture piece to the new cherry island and... pantry cabinet. The perimeter cabinets were enameled and glazed to emphasize the profiles. Cherie says, “I appreciate everyone’s talents. A good design and all the efforts of planning and selections are not wasted when you have talented craftsmen to not only execute it, but make it shine. The icing on the cake is when you see the homeowner is happy and the space looks like it always should have been.”
